Blue Dog Rescue 5K

This was our second year to participate in the Blue Dog Rescue 5K . I really love this event. It raises money for a good cause and encourages people to get out and do something active with their pooches.

Last year Eden and I walked almost the entire event with Iggy and Kent. Iggy was a bit out of shape and over weight and barely able to walk the 3.2 miles. This year, however, Eden and I decided to let Kent and Iggy walk and we would race the event. We wanted to see if Eden, at 12 years, still had it in her. Let me report, that if I am that fast at 65 or whatever she is in dog years I'll be winning my age group at all my races. Eden ran a 24:21 but since my chip time showed me at 24:05 then she probably crossed the line a sec behind me. That is a sub 8 min/mile time! Go Eden!

We won 5th doggie and hardware! Actually, we got a free dental cleaning but let me tell you, she needs that more than a medal!
Eden's brother, Karma, got 2nd Doggie, over all, with a time of 21:29, I think. Talk about fast! Way to go Karma!
Kent and Iggy and our new foster, Cricket, kicked butt running almost the entire way. They didn't place but to see Iggy, a year older and moving so much better than he did last year is a testament to healthy eating and exercise.

The volunteers were wonderful, the run was well supported and everyone had a great time. Thanks to Blue Dog for such a wonderful event!

Eden's friend Diva having fun!
