Leave It!

Junebug is doing great on the trail and in the home. Our biggest problem, on runs, was "leave it". She wanted to jump at every runner, cyclist, dog, car or bus that passed but a few "leave its" and a pop with the leash and she now knows that is not proper trail etiquette. We get so many compliments on her good manners. We are currently working on getting Junebug the Good Canine Citizen award. Junebug is sharp as a tack. She has most of the necessary skills, already, but we are working on "Bye bye, Mom". She gets a little anxious when I leave the room and she is in an unfamiliar surrounding. Who wouldn't but with patience and our trainer, Cathy's help, I have no doubt we will conquer that skill, too.
As much fun as we are having Junebug is doing all of this, learning to run and channel her energy through exercise and working towards her GCC, so that she is ready when her forever family comes to call.

Junebug is Learning to be a Running Pawtner

Junebug is ready to learn and ready to run. She just got back from 6 weeks at Triple Crown Dog acadamy where she learned how to be a well behaved girl. Now, that she is back she is ready to learn how to be a well behaved Running Pawtner. We are into our second week of running and we are up to 6 miles. We have learned to "leave it" when other dogs run by and "leave it" when buses drive by us.
She is a great little runner. She doesn't pull too hard on the leash and is constantly looking back at me as if to say, "am I doing this right"?
I'm looking forward to taking her out on the greenbelt, soon.
